Stompin' Billie Earl

Billie started is musical career as a young boy singing in churches around his home in South Georgia. Soon he was asked to play his guitar and sang at parties and picnics throughout South Georgia. As Billie grew, musically as well as physically he began traveling further and further from home to play radio shows, hay rides and bars.

Billie enlisted in the U.S. Army at 17 and stayed for a few years then transferred into the U.S. Coast Guard. It was in the Coast Guard that Billie decided on a career in music. After an honorable discharge Billie moved to Jacksonville, Florida where he soon became the opening act for bands such as, Leonard Skinnered.

It wasn't long before Billie's Song writing abilities came to the attention of Elvis Presley Music in New York City. Billie was hired to write songs will Hall of Fame songwriter Otis Blackwell. Billie and Otis wrote the song, "The King Is Dead," which was featured on the television tribute to the late Elvis Presley.

Billie soon left New York and came back to Florida, his adopted home, traveling and playing music throughout the Sunshine State, Billie, because of his unique style, soon became known as, "Stompin Billie Earl."

Because of his musical ability as well as his great songwriting talents Billie become friends with such well known stars as, Dickie Best, of the Allmond Brothers Band, Ronnie Dove, the late Red Sovine, Gerry Stewart and others. Billie has earned the title, "Entertainer Of The Stars.

The traveling bug once again bet Billie and he found himself in Baltimore, Maryland. Billies love for the Tarpon State inspired him to write and recorded such hits as, Maryland Memories and Save the Bay. Entertainer Of The Year, 1965, Ronnie Dove re-recorded both of Billies Maryland songs and once again they became hits, catapulting Billie, once more, into the national spotlight.

Billie now resides in Okeechobee, Florida and travels throughout Florida and Maryland doing what he loves best, entertaining and singing.
